Healthy Mars bars
(Desplaza hacia abajo para receta en Español)
Its so refreshing to know that to eat healthy you don't have to give up your favorite chocolate bar! Just use clean ingredients and voila; you get a not only healthy but a nutritious chocolate bar that is GOOD for you! What's more, when you switch to clean ingredients you will find that you are actually satisfied after one piece. That's because sugar is like a drug and has an addictive affect so you never feel satisfied from just one Mars bar or just one piece of cake. When you cut out sugar you can enjoy the clean version of your favorite foods knowing that your palate will instinctively let you know when you are done.
Ingredients (Makes 20 small mars bars):
For the nougat base:
50g shredded unsweetened coconut
90g sunflower seeds
80g almonds
5 tablespoons honey
100g oats
1 tablespoon stevia
2 tablespoon organic sugar-free peanut butter
1/4 teaspoon Himalayan salt
Put all the ingredients in the food processor and blend until you reach a thick paste. Spread the paste into your mold (line the mold with plastic film beforehand so you can easily remove the mars bars afterwards) and put in the freezer.
For the caramel filling:
10 deseeded dates
50g pumpkin seeds
10 tablespoons coconut milk
2 tablespoons stevia
2 tablespoons honey
Rinse out your food processor and place all the ingredients inside. Blend until you reach a loose paste consistency. Spread the caramel filling over the nougat base and place back in the freezer.
For the chocolate topping:
2 tablespoons organic cacao
1 tablespoon honey
2 tablespoons stevia
25g organic dark chocolate broken up into smal pieces
10 tablespoons coconut milk.
1 1/2 tablespoons coconut oil
Heat some water in a pan and fit a glass bowl (heat proof) over the top to create a Bagne Marie. Place the ingredients into the glass bowl and blend together until all the chocolate melts and a smooth, shiny liquid has formed. Distribute over the mars bar and place back in the freezer.
I recommend keeping the mars bars in the freezer and taking them out to cut them prior to serving.
