"You are what you eat"
I have 3 growing kids and a sports fanatic husband, food is a huge deal in our house. I have always been health conscious however after having kids I started paying closer attention to the food we eat as a family, and the deeper I delved, the more horrified I became by what is considered "normal" food. With childhood cancer rates higher than they have ever been, I had to ask myself whether societies way of eating is to blame?
I cook almost everything from scratch, so I know exactly what goes into my families mouths. I began examining and educating myself about each of the ingredients I used, and changing the way I cook, with the intention of helping them build their bodies up with nutritious ingredients which will keep them healthy. I believe wholly in the philosophy "You are what you eat", therefore to me, one if the most important gifts I can give my family is real, nutritious food made with clean ingredients. For me that means NO sugar, NO refined ingredients, NO chemicals, NO processed food.
Easier said than done? Then came my next challenge; my oldest daughter eats most things, but then my son will just spit something out if he decides it's "not supposed to taste good", he won't even give a veggie a chance! Even though we all eat the same food I was at odds as to how to get my son to eat healthy food and like it, and at the same time use clean ingredients.
So I started inventing fun, creative foods incorporating fruits and veggies into the recipes in a disguised attempt to get my son to eat them. To my pleasure, my family, extended family and friends loved my recipes so I decided to share them with others via this website and blog,
I have a degree in gastronomy and hospitality management, cooking is a form of artwork for me, and a lifelong passion of mine. Please enjoy these recipes and know that you are giving the best nourishment to yourself and your family in doing so, whilst hopefully having some fun at the same time!
